Church Construction

Every family needs a place to call home and the body of Christ is no different. It is important for every church to have a place to come, gather, host the community, start ministries, grieve during times of community heartache, and celebrate during times of joy. When we first started helping construct churches I provided a deeper reflection on all of these ideas that you can read here.

Masarura UMC is a great example of what we hope happens in all of these new faith homes. The church building was completed in 2014 and has already hosted a wedding, funeral, many church services, and prayer services. In January of 2015 they hope to start a nursery school in the church so that the 4-6 year olds currently walking over an hour to school in the morning and then an hour back in the afternoon have a closer place to go, which also means a safer place. This is a church home that has already been well used and it is not even a year old.

All churches that are built are built with contributions from the local church and some additional help from supporters like you. The local church is expected to contribute stone for the foundation, bricks for the walls, labor during construction, and anything else that helps make it their church. This also helps investments in church construction go further with a church costing between $12,000 and $15,000.
